Former Church Fields School, West Bromwich

This site is a residential development of approximately 135 new houses and 60 new apartments. The project involved detailed highway and drainage designs, including submission to both Severn Trent Water and Sandwell MBC highway department for technical compliance checks, prior to adoption and entering into both Section 38 and Section 104 agreements for the future adoption of the roads and sewers.

Working drawings for the construction of the roads and sewers, as well as fixing finished floor levels, details of the private drainage network and providing position and height of any retaining features were all provided to the Client.

The drainage design was undertaken in accordance with PPS25, to include attenuation and discharge restrictions.

Former Victoria Hospital, Lichfield

This site is a residential development of approximately 65 new homes, including approximately 12 apartments.

The project was broadly similar in scope to the Churchfields site above, except all private surface water discharge went to private soakaways. These were again designed in accordance with PPS25, to ensure off site flooding was prevented in storms up to and including a 1% probability, with an additional safety factor of 25%, as required.

Thorpe Downs Road, Church Gresley, Swadlingcote, Derbyshire

A Drainage Strategy report was prepared, initially, to support the planning application for 18 new homes, in response to concerns about surface water runoff from the proposed development. Once this had been approved, the detailed design of the road and sewers proceeded, followed by submission for and receipt of Technical Approvals from Severn Trent Water and the Derbyshire County Council highways department.

Addison Road, Rugby

To enable adoption of a recently completed residential development, the Client was required to provide evidence that a fire appliance could negotiate the emergency link, to the rear of the site. A swept path analysis using a default fire appliance was undertaken, and the resulting plot showing that the appliance would successfully negotiate the bends, was submitted to the Fire Department for approval.

Once this had been approved, the Client requested that drawings be prepared for the final adoption, based on an as-built survey, coloured to the requirements of the highways department.
